Discovery Bay, WA. – Karen A. Swanson, 59, died after being struck by a car in Discovery Bay on Thursday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident happened on U.S. Highway 101 at Orcas Drive near milepost 280 at around 9:09 a.m.

The woman was walking in the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck operated by 31-year-old Daniel Ramirez Granados, of Tacoma.

Swanson, a resident of Pasadena, California, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver was unhurt. Police say the driver was not impaired.

The roadway was closed for some time as the scene was cleared.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing
