Santa Maria, CA – 39-year-old Veronica Jimenez died after she was struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Santa Maria, authorities reported.
The pedestrian accident happened about 8:40 p.m. on August 9, 2026, in the 100 block of West Battles Road, just west of South Broadway.
According to the Santa Maria Police Department, Jimenez was crossing West Battles Road outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a car driven westbound by a 36-year-old Santa Maria resident.
Santa Maria police officers, firefighters, and American Medical Response responded to the scene and found the pedestrian with critical injuries.
Jimenez was offered medical aid at the scene before being transported to Marian Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
Jimenez’s family opened a GoFundMe page to help them raise money for her funeral expenses.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene after the crash.
The SMPD is investigating the accident.
