Authorities reported that a vehicle traveling on the highway drifted across the centerline and collided with an oncoming garbage truck.

Chewelah, WA – Two people were killed in a collision involving a big rig early Tuesday morning near Chewelah in Stevens County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the wreck happened at about 5:30 a.m. July 28, on Highway 395 near Bluecreek.
Authorities reported that a vehicle traveling on the highway drifted across the centerline and collided with an oncoming garbage truck. Authorities were still trying to determine what exactly led up to the accident.
According to the WSP, a man and a woman riding in the first vehicle were both killed in the accident. The identities of the deceased parties were not immediately released.
The driver of the garbage truck was not injured and remained at the scene.
The accident led to the closure of US 395 as authorities examined and cleared the scene.
