Phoenix, AZ – A man was killed when he was hit by a vehicle near an intersection in Phoenix early Friday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
At around 5 a.m. July 24, authorities were called to the scene of a crash in the area of 16th and Brill streets.
Initial reports indicate that a man was walking near the intersection when he was hit a vehicle. Authorities were still trying to figure out what led up to the accident.
Police and emergency crews responded to the scene a few minutes later and located a severely injured man.
Medics performed life-saving measures on the victim but despite their efforts, the victim died at the scene.
The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators.
According to Phoenix police, impairment was not suspected to have played any role in the collision.
16th Street was shut down between McDowell Road and Interstate 10 as authorities investigated the accident.
An investigation by the Phoenix Police Department is still ongoing.
