San Diego, CA – A bicycle rider was taken to a hospital with severe injuries after being hit by a vehicle late Monday night in the Grantville neighborhood of San Diego.

According to a report by the San Diego Police Department, the accident transpired at around 11:32 p.m. July 20, in the 6200 block of Rancho Mission Road.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 53-year-old man was riding a bicycle on Rancho Mission Road when he was hit by an oncoming car. The driver of the car reportedly swerved to avoid the rider but was unsuccessful and the collision happened.

The bicyclist was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries including a fractured tibia, fractured left femur and fractured ribs.

The involved motorist stayed at the scene and no arrests were immediately announced.
