Vista, CA – Man on E-Bike Fatally Hit by Car at South Melrose Dr. and Breeze Hill Rd.

Vista, CA – A 26-year-old man died after he was hit by a car Saturday afternoon near an intersection in Vista, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The deadly accident was reported around 3:38 p.m. on August 29, 2026, at South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road.

According to investigators, the man was riding his electric bicycle at the corner when he crossed South Melrose Drive against a red light and collided with a car heading northbound.

The rider was taken to the hospital with major injuries. He later died while receiving treatment.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.

The crash is under investigation by the Vista Sheriff Station’s Traffic Unit.
