Indio, CA – One person was killed and another critically injured in a collision that happened in Indio on Monday morning, according to the Indio Police Department.
The wreck took place at North Heritage Palms Drive and Fred Waring Drive on Monday, July 13.
Preliminary reports indicate that two vehicles were involved in the collision and the impact caused one of them to roll over. Two people were reportedly ejected from the rollover vehicle.
Indio police and Cal Fire officials responded to the site of the accident and attended to the involved individuals.
One person was declared deceased at the scene, according to Cal Fire. One of the patients had critical injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
The identities of the parties involved in the crash were not immediately available.
The accident led to a closure of the westbound side of Fred Waring Drive between Burr Street and Madison Street. Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area while investigations into the incident were ongoing.
