Indio, CA – A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle at an intersection in Indio late Saturday night, according to the Indio Police Department
The deadly pedestrian crash happened at about 10:59 p.m. on July 4, 2026, in the area of Golf Center Parkway and Avenue 44.
According to investigators, the woman, identified as 75-year-old Estela Garza of Bermuda Dunes, had just stepped off the center median into the roadway when a white Audi sedan struck her. The sedan was heading northbound on Golf Center Parkway when it struck the woman.
Police said Garza was found suffering from serious injuries. The responding paramedics performed life-saving measures and transported her to Desert Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at about 11:46 p.m. the same day.
The driver of the sedan, identified only as a 50-year-old, was not injured in the incident. The driver remained at the crash scene and cooperated with the investigators.
No additional information was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
