Lompoc, CA – Authorities are investigating a fiery multi-vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday evening on Highway 1 in south Lompoc.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the incident was reported shortly after 6 p.m. on June 30, 2026, on State Route 1, 11 miles north of Highway 101.

Responding crews located three vehicles at the crash site. However, the manner in which they collided was not immediately established.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find one vehicle on fire, but were able to extinguish the flames before they spread to the surrounding brush.

Four people were injured. Two of them were critically injured, and one was airlifted by a county helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other, along with two victims with moderate injuries, was taken by ground ambulance to local hospitals.

The identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.

The incident shut down the highway in both directions.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

No further information about the collision was provided.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine the cause of the wreck.
