The wreck occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 1 at Santa Lucia Canyon Road between Lompoc and Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Lompoc, CA. – A car collision involving a pregnant driver left the unborn baby dead Tuesday afternoon, authorities reported.
The wreck occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 1 at Santa Lucia Canyon Road between Lompoc and Vandenberg Space Force Base.
Authorities said the driver of a 2021 Lexus was traveling south on the highway in the fast lane.
At the same time, the pregnant driver of a 2018 Honda CR-V was heading northbound on the highway when she slowed down to make a left turn.
As the Honda driver turned left onto Santa Lucia Canyon Road, she moved directly into the path of the Lexus.
The Lexus struck the right side of the Honda.
Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene.
The Honda driver was airlifted by a CalStar helicopter to Marian Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Her unborn baby, however, died from injuries suffered in the crash.
The Lexus driver was also hospitalized with injuries.

Lompoc, CA. – Two people were injured Tuesday evening in a head-on crash on Highway 1 near Lompoc, officials reported.
The collision happened around 5:45 p.m. at Santa Lucia Canyon Road.
Two sedans collided, causing one to possibly overturn, according to Santa Barbara County Fire.
One person suffered major injuries and was airlifted by a CalStar helicopter to Marian Regional Medical Center.
Another person with minor injuries was also taken to the same hospital.
Southbound lanes were closed for a time while Caltrans crews cleared debris and CHP investigated the crash.
