The incident occured around 9:25 a.m. on June 30, 2026, at Marin Avenue and The Alameda.

Berkeley, CA – A woman in her 70s was hospitalized after she collided with an SUV while riding a bicycle near an intersection in North Berkeley, the Berkeley Police Department reported.
The incident occured around 9:25 a.m. on June 30, 2026, at Marin Avenue and The Alameda.
According to police, a woman in her 70s and her partner were riding bicycles westbound on Marin Avenue.
At the same time, the driver of a black Hyundai Tucson SUV was also heading westbound on Marin Avenue when he may have been turning right onto The Alameda, or preparing to turn, and collided with the woman, who was traveling at about 20 mph.
Berkeley police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the cyclist conscious and in evident pain. The woman complained of abdominal pain and had a possible clavicle injury.
Firefighters transported the rider to Highland Hospital for treatment.
Investigators closed the intersection while they worked the scene.
