Lassen County, CA – One person was killed, and five others suffered major injuries in a head-on collision Tuesday morning on Highway 395 north of Hall Road in the North Constantia area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:05 a.m. on June 23, when a northbound 2025 Chrysler van crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2014 Toyota pickup.
Authorities said 43-year-old Sade Knight of Sparks, Nevada, was driving the Chrysler, and 52-year-old Candelario AlvarezLoz of Truckee was driving the Toyota at the time of the crash.
A 39-year-old man from Sun Valley, Nevada, who was a passenger in the Chrysler van, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Knight and three additional passengers in the van, identified as 38-year-old Sali Malupo Manu of Sparks, 27-year-old Baron John Badillo Jr. of Susanville, and 37-year-old Marvin Nye of Reno, were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
AlvarezLoz, who was the sole occupant of the Toyota pickup, also sustained major injuries and was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment.
No additional details were provided. The crash remains under investigation.
