Wheatland, CA – At least one person died, and at least one other was injured in a head-on collision that happened Thursday night in Wheatland, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A black van and a gray Honda Civic were involved in a head-on crash under unclear circumstances.
A person reporting the accident said they were trapped inside their vehicle.
Yuba County sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the accident.
The report said at least one person died in the crash.
An air ambulance was requested to airlift at least one other person who was injured. Forty Mile Road was closed in both directions to allow the helicopter to land in the roadway.
The cause of the collision was not immediately established, but authorities are investigating.
