Phoenix, AZ – A man was killed in an auto-pedestrian collision that happened in Phoenix on Monday evening, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Authorities responded just before 9 p.m. June 22, to the accident near 39th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Thunderbird Road when it struck a pedestrian walking across the road. Authorities reported that the pedestrian was crossing the street mid-block when he was hit.
Police and the Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene and attended to the injured pedestrian.
The victim was then rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. The victim’s name was not immediately disclosed.
There were no details provided on the driver of the involved vehicle.
The Phoenix Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the accident and additional details are expected to be released.
