Phoenix, AZ – A toddler was killed in a hit-and-run crash in west Phoenix Sunday night, according to Phoenix police.
The fatal collision was reported shortly before 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of 31st Avenue and Buckeye Road.
Investigators said the child wandered into a driveway when he was struck by a vehicle. Authorities stated the driver stopped briefly after the collision before getting into another vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The toddler sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities have not publicly released the child’s identity. Phoenix police later identified the driver as 35-year-old Carlos Rojas Mora. Mora was located by detectives, taken into custody, and booked on charges of hit-and-run with death.
