Phoenix, AZ – Authorities have released the identity of the woman who died after being struck by a vehicle in west Phoenix late Thursday night.
Tracie L. Gordon, 68, according to the Phoenix Police Department, died a day after the incident that took place shortly after 10 p.m. February 12, at 75th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard.
A preliminary investigation found that Gordon was on a motorized wheelchair attempting to cross 75th Avenue against a traffic light when she was hit by a vehicle in the area near the Desert Sky Mall. It’s unclear whether Gordon was in a marked or unmarked crosswalk when the accident happened.
When the Phoenix police and emergency personnel responded to the scene, they found Gordon suffering from major injuries.
Medics rushed Gordon to a hospital in critical condition and she was declared deceased the following day.
The driver remained at the scene and was not suspected to have been impaired.
