The collision was reported at about 4:54 a.m. on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, just east of the Orange (57) Freeway.
Pomona, CA – One person was critically injured and five others sustained minor injuries following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in the Pomona area early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at approximately 4:54 a.m. on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, just east of the Orange (57) Freeway.
Authorities said four vehicles were involved in the crash on the westbound side of the freeway. As per the CHP, a black pickup truck involved in the collision overturned and came to rest on its side, blocking the first lane of the freeway.
Six people were injured in the incident. One patient suffered critical injuries, and the other five victims sustained minor injuries. All six patients were transported to area hospitals for treatment. No arrests were reported.
CHP officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported and provided medical assistance to the injured victims.
The crash caused significant traffic disruption in the area after the carpool lane and four main westbound lanes were closed for approximately one hour. One lane reopened around 6:00 a.m., while all remaining lanes were cleared and reopened by approximately 7:00 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
