Chico, CA – The authorities have released the identity of a woman who was killed after multiple vehicles collided at an intersection in Chico on Wednesday afternoon.
Butte County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as Tawney Christner, 63, of Clearlake Oaks.
According to the Chico Police Department (CPD), Christner was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by a speeding vehicle at the intersection of Esplanade and East Lassen Avenue at about 1 p.m. on May 27.
Christner suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other people were injured in the collision that involved about six vehicles.

Chico, CA – One person is dead and three others are hospitalized after multiple vehicles, including a B-Line bus, collided at a Chico intersection on Wednesday afternoon, according to a Chico police report.
The crash occurred at about 1 p.m. in the area of Esplanade and Lassen Avenue
According to the police, a blue vehicle and a B-Line bus were stopped at a red light at the intersection when a gray sedan traveling at an estimated speed of 70 to 80 mph rear-ended the blue vehicle and sideswiped the bus. The collision impacted a total of six vehicles, including a white pickup truck.
Authorities said a passenger inside the blue car died at the scene. The name of the victim was not immediately released pending identification and notification of the next of kin.
Three patients, including two with minor injuries, were transported to Enloe Health. Police confirmed that no passengers aboard the B-Line bus were injured in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
