Palm Springs, CA –Â The authorities have released the name of a pedestrian who was hit and killed on East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs on Wednesday night.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner identified the pedestrian as Thomas Diguette, 78, of Palm Springs.
According to the sheriff’s office, Diguette was crossing the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Cherokee Way and was in a crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on E Palm Canyon at the time of the incident.
Diguette was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at about 9:01 p.m. the same day.

According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the accident took place at the intersection of Cherokee Way shortly after 8:15 p.m. on April 29.
Investigators reported that a vehicle was heading east on East Palm Canyon Drive when it struck a man walking in the east crosswalk. According to police, the vehicle was believed to have been traveling on a green light when the collision happened.
Emergency personnel found the pedestrian with major injuries at the scene and rendered aid to the victim.
The pedestrian was then rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. Authorities did not immediately release details on the victim’s identity.
