Thousand Palms, CA – A driver was hurt in a car accident that occurred in Thousand Palms on Wednesday morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened at around 8 a.m. April 15, in the area of Monterey Avenue and Varner Road.
According to investigators, a semi-truck was attempting to make a right turn onto Monterey Avenue when it collided with a GMC SUV. The big rig burst into flames due to the impact of the collision.
The CHP and crews with the Riverside County Fire Department arrived within minutes and helped put out the fire.
After evaluation, the SUV driver was transported by medics to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with moderate injuries. His identity was not available in the report.
The operator of the big rig was not hurt in the incident.
There was no information on whether impairment or speed played any role in the crash and no arrests were reported.
