San Diego, CA – A motorcycle rider was injured in a collision involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 8 in the College Area neighborhood of San Diego on Friday morning.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the wreck took place in the westbound lanes of I-8 just east of Waring Road shortly before 9:35 a.m. April 25.
The SDPD reported that the motorcyclist was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on the interstate. Details on what may have led up to the accident were not immediately established.
Police and emergency crews responded to the scene and found the motorcyclist down in the westbound lanes surrounded by several people. Multiple cars and a motorcycle were stopped at the scene.
Medics attended to the rider at the scene. It’s unclear whether the rider was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
The rider’s condition and identity were not immediately released. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
At least three lanes were shut down as authorities investigated and cleared the scene. All lanes were reopened at around 10:21 a.m.
Whether speed or impairment were factors in the accident is yet to be established. The San Diego Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
