Pomona, CA – The boy who died days after being involved in a collision while riding on an e-bike in Pomona last week Friday has been identified.

According to the authorities, Angel Roman Mendoza Lopez, 13, of Pomona, died following the wreck that took place in the 1600 block of San Antonio Avenue near Patterson Street just before 2:30 p.m. on April 17.

Pomona police reported that Angel was riding an e-bike along the sidewalk when he moved into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department crews arrived at the scene shortly after and performed CPR on Lopez.

Lopez was then rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital and was later taken to Children’s Hospital Orange County.

Investigators said Lopez succumbed to the injuries at the hospital on Sunday, April 19.

According to Pomona police, the driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with law enforcement.

It’s unclear whether impairment or speed were factors in the accident. There were no reports of any arrests in connection with the incident.

More details on the wreck were not immediately released. The Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is still investigating the collision.
