Pomona, CA -A boy died days after being involved in an accident while riding on an e-bike in Pomona last week on Friday.

According to the Pomona Police Department, the wreck took place in the 1600 block of San Antonio Avenue near Patterson Street shortly before 2:30 p.m. on April 17.

Investigations revealed that the boy was riding an e-bike along the sidewalk when he drifted into the roadway and was hit by a vehicle.

Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene within minutes and performed CPR on the boy.

The victim was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital and was later transferred to Children’s Hospital Orange County.

Authorities said the boy succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Sunday, April 19. His identity has not yet been made public.

According to Pomona police, the involved driver stayed at the site of the collision and was cooperative with law enforcement.

It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. No arrests were reported in the incident.

Additional details were not immediately available. The Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting an investigation to establish the factors of the accident.
