Salinas, CA – A man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in San Jacinto on Saturday morning has been identified by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
39-year-old Andres Ortiz Jacinto, was killed in the accident that occurred at about 6 a.m. April 11, on Airport Boulevard near Mercer Way, according to sheriff’s officials.
A preliminary investigation found that a woman driving in the area struck Jacinto in the roadway. Details on what led up to the pedestrian being hit were not immediately available.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located Jacinto lying face down in the street. He was declared deceased at the scene.
The involved female driver stayed at the scene and contacted the authorities. Investigators do not believe impairment played any role in the incident and the involved driver cooperated with the investigators.
No additional details have been released at this time and the Salinas Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
