Oakland, CA – Authorities have identified the three people who were killed after a teen driver plowed into multiple pedestrians in East Oakland Saturday night.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased victims as 44-year-old Miguel Sanchez Ramirez, 65-year-old Charles Blackmon of Oakland, and 64-year-old Robert Dixon of Oakland.
The fatal collision occurred at about 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the area of 85th Avenue and International Boulevard in Oakland.
According to the Oakland Police Department, the crash happened when a 17-year-old driver was traveling northbound on 85th Avenue at a high rate of speed and attempted to make a left turn onto International Boulevard. Investigators said the vehicle crashed into multiple pedestrians and vehicles in the area. Three other people suffered severe injuries in the collision.
Authorities said the teenage driver attempted to flee the scene following the crash but was restrained by Good Samaritans until police arrived. The suspect was transported to a hospital and was later arrested. Officials said the teen could face vehicular manslaughter charges.
Police officers and emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist victims and investigate the crash. Surveillance footage from the area reportedly showed the suspect vehicle mounting the sidewalk moments before the impact, while a nearby woman narrowly avoided being struck.
The crash caused significant disruption in the area as investigators processed the scene and gathered evidence.
The Oakland Police Department is investigating the incident.
