Fremont, CA – One person sustained major injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 880 in Fremont early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Preliminary information suggests the white Tesla was involved in a collision with another vehicle and spun across the freeway, coming to rest perpendicular in traffic lanes. The incident caused significant lane closures, with lanes three, four, five, and six of southbound I-880 shut down at one point.
One party was transported to Washington Health for treatment of major injuries. No arrests were reported in connection with the Fremont crash.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined what led to the Tesla losing control and spinning across multiple lanes.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and multiple tow trucks were requested to remove the damaged vehicles from the freeway. The California Department of Transportation was also notified to assist with traffic management and roadway safety.
The crash resulted in significant traffic disruption along southbound I-880 during the early morning hours, with several lanes blocked for more than an hour. By approximately 2:40 a.m., all lanes were reopened to motorists.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
