Del Monte Forest, CA – One person suffered major injuries following a head-on collision involving a tourist bus in Del Monte Forest Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:03 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, on 17 Mile Drive near Majella Road.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a red Corvette collided head-on with a white passenger tourist bus.

Authorities said at least one driver was trapped or pinned by the wreckage but was reportedly moving after the crash. One person suffered major injuries in the collision, and a helicopter was requested to transport the patient.

CHP reports stated that both lanes were blocked following the collision and that fuel and other fluids were leaking from one of the vehicles.

California Highway Patrol officers, Monterey County emergency crews, firefighters, and Pebble Beach security personnel responded to the scene. Authorities were also attempting to obtain statements from the involved parties before one injured person was transported from the area.

The collision caused traffic disruptions along 17 Mile Drive near Spanish Bay as both lanes remained blocked during the emergency response and investigation.

The Del Monte Forest crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
