Sonoma County, CA – One person was killed following a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Porter Creek Road in Santa Rosa Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:14 p.m. on Porter Creek Road near Postwood Lane.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the rider of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound and reportedly passed several vehicles by driving on the wrong side of the roadway. Authorities said that after completing the illegal passing maneuver, the motorcyclist returned to the eastbound lane and crashed into the rear of a Toyota truck that was waiting to make a left turn.
The motorcyclist, identified only as a 52-year-old man from Santa Rosa, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet publicly released his identity. No other injuries were reported in the collision
Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available.
California Highway Patrol officers, emergency medical personnel, and the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
Two crews were later called to remove a heavily damaged vehicle involved in the crash.
The collision caused traffic disruptions along Porter Creek Road while authorities conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the roadway.
The exact cause of the fatal motorcycle crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
