Santa Rosa, CA – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash was reported at about 7:54 a.m. on northbound U.S. 101 just south of the State Route 12 connector.

CHP logs indicate that a white work truck, a white big rig truck, a black sedan, and a gray Subaru SUV were involved in the collision.

Authorities said the vehicles came to rest blocking multiple northbound lanes of Highway 101, although the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash was not immediately released.

Authorities confirmed that one person was killed in the collision. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Information regarding additional injuries or possible arrests was not immediately available.

Emergency personnel, including CHP officers, fire crews, and the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office, responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Investigators requested multiple evidence tows as authorities processed the scene.

The collision caused major traffic disruptions in the area, with all northbound lanes of Highway 101 temporarily shut down and traffic diverted onto State Route 12. CHP also issued a SigAlert and activated electronic message signs warning motorists to use alternate routes due to significant delays.

The incident remains under investigation.
