Sonoma County, CA – One person was killed, and two others were injured following a two-vehicle collision involving a truck and a sedan on SR-1 in Sea Ranch late Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred on State Route 1 at Yardarm Drive at about 4:53 p.m. near the Sea Ranch area.
According to CHP, the driver of a Tesla attempted to make a left-hand turn onto northbound Highway 1 from Yardarm Drive and drove directly into the path of a Dodge pickup truck towing a trailer. The truck was unable to avoid the collision.
The driver of the Tesla sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased driver was not immediately released.
A passenger in the Tesla suffered major injuries and was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the Dodge was also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
Emergency personnel, including fire crews and paramedics, responded to the scene to assist victims and manage the situation, while transportation officials worked to clear the roadway.
The collision prompted a SigAlert, shutting down both northbound and southbound lanes of SR-1 for several hours, causing significant delays in the area. All lanes were reopened at around 8:42 p.m. after crews cleared the scene.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined and remains under investigation by authorities.
