Santa Ana, CA – Two people were injured after a motorcycle and a car collided on SR-91 West in Santa Ana on Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at about 4:19 p.m. on the westbound side of State Route 91 at the State College Boulevard on-ramp.
According to the CHP, a motorcycle carrying two occupants collided with a tan Ford pickup truck. Authorities noted that the truck reportedly entered the HOV lane, causing the collision. The crash left the motorcycle blocking the HOV lane, while another vehicle, a blue Kia Optima, stopped nearby with hazard lights on, further obstructing traffic.
Two individuals on the motorcycle sustained moderate injuries. Emergency responders removed the motorcycle from the roadway, and no arrests were reported in connection with the incident.
Emergency personnel, including an off-duty fire captain who stopped to assist, responded to the scene. Authorities worked to clear the vehicles and restore traffic flow.
The collision blocked the HOV lane and one additional lane, causing traffic delays in the area during the afternoon commute.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though initial information suggests the pickup truck’s movement into the HOV lane contributed to the collision.
