Coronado, CA – An elderly bicyclist died after colliding with a car Tuesday afternoon at an intersection in Coronado, the Coronado Police Department reported.
The crash was reported around 1:37 p.m., March 17, on Silver Strand Boulevard, also known as State Route 75, at Tulagi Road.
Authorities responded to the intersection after receiving a 911 call reporting a bicycle versus car collision.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a 78-year-old bicyclist with severe injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after failed resuscitation efforts.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene after the crash.
All lanes of Silver Strand Boulevard at Tulagi Road remained closed for several hours following the accident.
CPD is investigating the cause of the crash, but said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.
