San Luis Obispo County, CA – A pedestrian died when she was hit by a San Luis Obispo County Animal Services vehicle outside of the city limits on Wednesday afternoon.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported just after 4 p.m. February 24, on Orcutt Road near La Lomita Way.
A preliminary investigation estalished that a female pedestrian was hit by the vehicle as she tried to walk across the roadway.
The CHP and emergency crews immediately responded after receiving reports of the accident and an ambulance was requested.
However, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. Her identity was not immediately released.
Details on the involved motorist were not available in the CHP report. There were no reports of any arrest as a result of the collision.
The accident led to the closure of Orcutt Road and La Lomita Way as authorities investigated the incident. There was no estimate of how long the closure would last.
