Modesto, CA – A woman was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle in Modesto on Friday evening.
According to the Modesto Police Department, the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Pelandale Avenue, just west of Prescott Road.
Investigators reported that a woman was walking north along a canal on Pelandale Avenue when she tried to walk across the roadway and was hit by a car traveling in the number one eastbound lane.
The MPD officers and emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports of the accident.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, her identity has not been released by the authorities.
After the accident, the involved driver pulled over and waited for authorities to arrive. Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
No futher details were released. An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Modesto Police Department.
