Phoenix, AZ – An investigation is underway into a motorcycle collision that led to the death of one person in north Phoenix on Thursday night.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the wreck was reported at around 10:30 p.m. on February 12, near 15th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
A preliminary investigation determined that a motorcycle rider was heading west on Bethany Home Road when he crashed into a vehicle that was making a northbound turn from eastbound Bethany Home Road onto 15th Avenue.
The events leading up to the two vehicles colliding at the intersection were yet to be established but authorities reported that speed may have played a role.
The Phoenix Police Department officers and emergency crews arrived shortly after and located the involved parties.
The motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene of the crash. He has since been identified by police as Jason Sutterfield, 54.
The other driver remained at the scene after the collision and cooperated with the investigators.
No additional details on the incident were immediately available. The Phoenix Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
