Sonora, CA – Major injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident on Phoenix Lake Road in Sonora on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck took place at 20350 Phoenix Lake Road near Midland Drive on Saturday, January 3.
Authorities reported that a Kia Soul drifted off the roadway south of the Phoenix Lake Reservoir and crashed into the embankment. The Kia then flipped multiple times and came to a rest on its wheels.
CHP and fire crews responded to the incident and attended to those involved in the wreck.
There were reports of major injuries. The number of the injured parties was not immediately released.
The crash slowed traffic through the area while crews worked at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is investigating to establish the cause of the collision.

Highways 108, 49, and 120 have been identified the most risky roadways in Tuolumne County due the number of collisions occurring in these areas yearly.
