Phoenix, AZ – Three people were injured in a collision involving a police vehicle in Phoenix early Wednesday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The incident was reported shortly before 1 a.m. December 24, on 23rd Avenue and Camelback Road.
A Phoenix police cruiser was traveling north through the intersection when it collided with a vehicle that made a left turn in front of it. The police vehicle had its lights on when the collision happened.
The Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to the incident. The two officers in the police SUV and one person in the second vehicle were all transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
It was not yet determined whether impairment played a role in the incident.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Alcohol-related incidents are a particular issue, with Saturday nights between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. showing the highest rates. Vulnerable road users are disproportionately affected; for example, pedestrians accounted for nearly 250 deaths in the state in 2024, a number driven by driver inattention and a failure to use crosswalks.
