Indio, CA – A man who was severely injured in a motorcycle collision with a big rig in Indio late Thursday night is dead, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday on Monroe Street, near 43rd Avenue and the bridge portion that provides access to Interstate 10.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle, ridden by Roberto Rodriguez, a 33-year-old Indio resident, collided with a big rig. Rodriguez was found in the roadway with serious injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Authorities said Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
The driver of the big rig was not injured. No arrests have been reported at this time.
Police and emergency responders closed a portion of Monroe Street for over three hours to manage the scene, treat the injured, and conduct an investigation.
The closure caused temporary disruptions for local traffic in the area, which have since been cleared.
The incident remains under investigation by Indio police. Additional details will be released once the preliminary report is complete.
