According to CHP logs, a motorcycle collided with a black Nissan Altima while the rider was lane-splitting in the southbound lanes

Pico Rivera, CA – A motorcyclist sustained major injuries after a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 605 southbound Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:43 p.m. on December 11, near the Beverly Boulevard on-ramp, just north of the HOV lane entry.
According to CHP logs, a motorcycle collided with a black Nissan Altima while the rider was lane-splitting in the southbound lanes.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to go down in the HOV lane, leaving the motorcycle blocking the roadway.
At least one person, the motorcycle rider, suffered major injuries. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the rider received on-scene medical attention before being transported. No additional injuries or arrests were reported.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, though preliminary information noted that the rider had been lane-splitting prior to striking the rear of another vehicle.
CHP units, along with Los Angeles County Fire Department crews and Freeway Service Patrol, responded to the scene. Two vehicles required tow assistance due to damage, and the HOV lane remained blocked until the scene was cleared.
The collision caused significant traffic delays on southbound I-605, especially near Rose Hills Road and Peck Road, where authorities directed drivers to alternative access points.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
