Madeline, CA – Two people were injured after a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck on Highway 395 late Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP logs indicate that a pickup truck and a semi-truck collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 395. One lane remained open initially, but the semi was left disabled in the roadway, and the pickup truck was forced off the shoulder due to the impact. The semi, hauling approximately 77,000 pounds of lumber, sustained major front-end damage.
Two people were injured in the collision. At least one patient was transported to a Reno-area hospital with major injuries, while the extent of injuries to the second individual was not immediately known. No arrests were reported.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and investigators have not disclosed the factors that led to the pickup and semi striking each other.
Responding units included CHP Alturas, local fire crews, and the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office. Heavy-duty tow units were requested for the semi due to its load and damage.
Traffic was impacted in the area, with at least one northbound lane blocked during emergency response and vehicle removal.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
