The crash happened around 9:25 a.m. on State Route 299 west of Spicer Lane when the eastbound Ford entered the westbound lane for unknown reasons.

Modoc County, CA. – A 56-year-old Alturas man was killed, and two children, ages 4 and 2, were seriously injured after their Ford collided head-on with a big rig Friday morning west of Alturas, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 9:25 a.m. on State Route 299 west of Spicer Lane when the eastbound Ford entered the westbound lane for unknown reasons.
A westbound Kenworth truck driven by a 65-year-old Klamath Falls man struck the Ford head-on, killing the driver at the scene.
The two children in the Ford were taken to Modoc Medical Center before being airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center.
The truck driver was not injured.
CHP said all occupants were properly restrained and that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors.
The collision remains under investigation.
