Martin Gomez ID’d as Man Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on 5 Freeway in Burbank

The fatal collision happened around 3:45 a.m. on October 19 on the northbound side of the Golden State (5) Freeway at Alameda Avenue.

Burbank, CA – The man who was killed early Sunday morning in a wrong-way collision in Burbank has been identified as Martin Reyes Gomez, 52, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.

The fatal collision happened around 3:45 a.m. on October 19 on the northbound side of the Golden State (5) Freeway at Alameda Avenue.

Authorities said a vehicle was traveling northbound in the number one lane when it crashed into a southbound vehicle that was traveling the wrong way. Another car crashed into the northbound vehicle. That car landed on its roof.

The wrong-way driver, Gomez, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol was considered a factor in the collision.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
