49-Year-Old Man Killed in Visalia Crash on Highway 63 near Avenue 352

Visalia, CA.- One person was killed in a collision involving a tanker truck near Visalia in Tulare County on Friday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place in the area of Highway 63 near Avenue 352 at about 11:21 p.m. August 8.

A 49-year-old man was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox SUV on Highway 63 at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the rear of a 2023 Kenworth commercial semi-truck pulling a gasoline tank trailer.

The big rig was slowing down to make a turn onto Avenue 352 when it was struck from behind.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The CHP reported that drugs may have been a factor in the crash

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
