Joshua Kirk Dies from Injuries Sustained in Car Crash on East Old Spanish Trail and South Houghton Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ – The Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner has identified a man who died three days after a traffic collision that occurred Wednesday night at an intersection in Tucson as 45-year-old Joshua James Kirk.

The mishap was reported at around 8:30 p.m. on April 23 at East Old Spanish Trail and South Houghton Road, according to the Tucson Police Department.

Reportedly, a red 2002 Ford Escape driven by a 21-year-old man was headed northbound on Houghton Road when he failed to stop for a red light and struck an eastbound gray 2022 Toyota Tacoma operated by Kirk.

Kirk was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, where he was pronounced dead on April 26, as a result of his injuries.

The driver and passenger in the Ford, an adult male and an adult female respectively, were not injured.

The Ford driver was not impaired at the time of the collision. He was issued a civil citation for failure to stop for a red light.

No additional details regarding the mishap were provided.

An investigation is underway.
