Reportedly, Armstrong was driving a Nissan sedan when for unknown reasons he struck the rear of a stalled pickup truck on the right shoulder of the westbound freeway
San Diego, CA – The San Diego County Coroner’s Office has identified 43-year-old Tobin Alan Armstrong as a driver killed in a traffic collision on Interstate 8 in San Diego Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 8:34 p.m. January 26 on the westbound 8 Freeway at Waring Road.
Reportedly, Armstrong was driving a Nissan sedan when for unknown reasons he struck the rear of a stalled pickup truck on the right shoulder of the westbound freeway.
A passerby then stopped and exited his vehicle on scene and attempted to extricate the alert decedent from the Nissan which was then struck by another westbound pickup truck.
Armstrong was ejected from his vehicle while the bystander fell backwards to the roadway. Responding paramedics transported Armstrong and the bystander to a local emergency department, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
