South Los Angeles, CA – A train struck and killed a pedestrian on Sunday afternoon in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The incident took place in the 4330 block of S. Long Beach Avenue near East Vernon Avenue at around 12:52 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.

Preliminary reports indicate that a person was hit by a Metro Blue (A) Line train in the area. It’s unclear why the pedestrian was on the tracks when the incident took place.

Emergency crews with the LAFD responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the accident and located the victim.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the site of the collision. The victim’s name, age, or gender were not immediately released.

It’s unclear whether anyone else was hurt in the collision.

At this time, no additional details on the incident have been released. The cause of the deadly train collision is still under investigation.
