The Napa County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Robert French. The fatal collision occurred in the 1000 block of Dunaweal Lane west of Silverado Trail at approximately 6:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to CHP, French was riding his bicycle eastbound on the north shoulder of Dunaweal Lane just west of Silverado Trail when he veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a Ford Mustang traveling in the same direction.
Robert French suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mustang was not injured and remained at the scene, where they cooperated fully with investigators. No arrests were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and closed the roadway for approximately four hours as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.
