Murrieta, CA – At least one person sustained major injuries following a suspected DUI-related two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Murrieta on Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a gray Honda Civic collided with a dark gray Volkswagen sedan at the intersection.
At least one person sustained major injuries in the collision. Authorities later confirmed the crash was DUI-related. A driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, causing major injury, and was transported to Inland Valley. The identity of the arrested individual has not been released.
The exact circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Investigators also noted that a witness reportedly captured the crash on dashcam video.
CHP reports stated that both damaged vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder following the impact. Authorities also reported heavy debris scattered across the roadway and multiple occupants being removed from the vehicles.
