The deadly rollover crash happened at approximately 11 a.m. on Interstate 8 near Lake Jennings Park Road.

El Cajon, CA – Two men were killed following a head-on rollover collision on Interstate 8 near El Cajon Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Interstate 8 near Lake Jennings Park Road.
Investigators said a 24-year-old El Cajon man was driving a Toyota RAV4 eastbound on I-8 when, for some reason, the SUV veered left into the center median and crossed into the westbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a westbound Honda Accord driven by a 43-year-old El Cajon man.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities said both men were residents of El Cajon. Their identities have not yet been publicly released.
California Highway Patrol officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to assist victims and conduct the investigation.
The crash prompted the temporary closure of a stretch of Interstate 8 near Lake Jennings Park Road, causing traffic disruptions in the area before all lanes were later reopened.
Investigators said drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the fatal El Cajon crash. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
