Lakeside, CA – Two motorists who were killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 8 in Lakeside last Thursday have been identified.
The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office identified them as Ian Joseph Miller, 24, and 43-year-old Richard Ortega, both El Cajon residents.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash was reported on Interstate 8 near Lake Jennings Road at around 11:03 a.m. on May 21. 2026.
Two vehicles collided head-on in the area under unclear circumstances.
Miller was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead, while Ortega died at the crash site.
